CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Sunny skies and warm temperatures greeted some 20,000 runners and walkers as the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle returned to Grant Park Sunday morning after a two-year break due to COVID-19.

This was the first major run since the pandemic for Matt Chin of Belmont Cragin and lots of others.

Chin said he was trying to get used to running surrounded by other people during the 8K.

A woman doing the two-mile walk said she used to run but now can enjoy all the silly costumes and doesn't have to worry about her time.

Columbus Drive was a sea of green t-shirts and hats but there were also people dressed in kilts, as leprechauns, and even a banana.

Several runners said it felt good to do something normal again.
