Peanuts and Cracker Jack Have Come A Long Way...
The White Sox will be in action on the South Side for the first time since the All-Star break on Friday night, and they are opening the second half with some new menu items.
Serena Moore with Levy Restaurants was one of those giving a taste to lucky reporters on Thursday at Rate Field, saying one new treat is cookie dough, which will remind you of being a kid in mom's kitchen, saying, "your vanilla, your brown sugar, everything that you remember about cookie dough that you would try to get out of the kitchen and sneak bites of, except that this is safe to eat! We don't have any eggs in it or anything like that. And you get options, it's blended right in front of you. We've got a chocolate chip version and we have (a) monster (version) which has peanut butter, chips, M&Ms and you can get it on a cup or a sugar cone. "
Jesus Vazquez is an executive chef for the Sox at Rate Field, and was showing off a sushi push pop called the Muneshot, which is sushi in a souvenir cylinder in honor of White Sox slugger Munetaka Murakami. Vazquez said, "It's a sushi roll inside a push pop vessel...you have sushi in there...and push it up... no need for chopsticks!"
Meatball sandwiches and hot wings with pickles and fries are also among the "late season" call-ups the White Sox are bringing out of the bullpen and into the kitchen.
Wings, pickles, sushi, you name it...
