HIGHLAND (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Three people are dead, more than a dozen people injured in a crash downstate involving a Greyhound bus.
The crash happened at the Silver Lake rest stop off westbound I-70. That’s 33 miles from St. Louis.
Illinois State Police said the Greyhound bus had been traveling from Indianapolis to St. Louis, when, around 2 a.m., the bus hit three commercial vehicles that were parked on an exit ramp to a rest stop.
Police said the three people who died had been on the bus, so were the 14 people who were injured. Four of them were airlifted to hospitals.
No one in the commercial vehicles was injured. Greyhound said in a statement that the driver of the bus was one of those hospitalized.
