MACHESNEY PARK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the collapse of a building under construction in Machesney Park, north of Rockford, Monday afternoon that left three people injured.

The steel frame of the building, part of an expansion by the manufacturing company Hennig Inc. collapsed at about 1:30 p.m.

This was a large skeleton of a building under construction.

Firefighters responded for what they called a “technical rescue.”

The three men who were injured were working in separate bucket lift trucks when, for an unknown reason, the structure collapsed.

Images from the scene showed twisted steel beams. Two of the bucket lifts were tipped over.

Two construction workers were hospitalized. The third refused treatment.
