HUNTLEY, Ill. (WBBM Newsradio) – Northwestern Medicine opened a new outpatient center Monday on its Huntley Hospital campus, expanding cancer, heart and specialty care for patients in McHenry County and surrounding communities.
The approximately 80,000-square-foot building at 10390 Haligus Road introduces radiation oncology, palliative care, gastroenterology and pulmonary medicine to the campus.
“This is a reflection of the explosive growth of needing specialized services that we have in our community,” said Matt Carlen, president of Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital.
The center doubles cancer infusion rooms from eight to 16 and increases medical oncology exam rooms from six to 13. It also expands cardiac testing, general surgery and urology services. Gynecologic oncology is expected to begin in 2027.
Previously, Northwestern Medicine patients in the northwest suburbs received radiation oncology services at its McHenry Hospital Cancer Center. That location will continue providing treatment.
“Patients often require multiple types of treatment as part of their cancer journey,” radiation oncologist Dr. Terrence Bugno said in a statement. “Having radiation oncology available on the Huntley campus enables us to deliver more coordinated care while helping patients avoid unnecessary travel during treatment.”
Northwestern Medicine expects the expansion to support approximately 300 new jobs over the next three years, including physicians, advanced practice providers and support staff.
