BERWYN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Guns, a stolen vehicle, and five suspects are in custody after Berwyn police were involved in a chase Monday afternoon on busy Harlem Avenue.
According to Berwyn police, it started with someone reporting a dangerous driver on northbound Harlem Avenue around 36th Street, around 4:30 pm. When police spotted the SUV and ran the license plates and found out it was stolen, police attempted to pull over the SUV. The driver sped off with police in pursuit.
The chase ended when the SUV crashed into a police squad and the trailer portion of a semi that was in the southbound lanes. Police said the five people in the SUV jumped out and started to run. Police caught all five, three men and two boys.
Berwyn police said one of the suspects had a high-capacity handgun with 22 rounds and that two other high-capacity guns were found in the SUV. Charges are pending.
