A credit card expert says dating should not be a reason to go into debt.
A new study from LendingTree found that 20% of millennials and members of Generation Z have gone into debt over dating.
Ted Rossman, industry analyst with creditcards.com told the WBBM Noon Business Hour that nights out can add up.
"Survey respondents spend an average of about $91 on a night out. You multiply that by multiple occasions and that can really add to your credit card balance," Rossman said.
There's an upside to an affordable dating life. Rossman added that if pay your credit card bills on time you can apply credit card rewards to the next date.
"As long as you pay in full and avoid interest these programs really work for you," Rossman said.
