(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The trial of the man charged with the 2017 murders of two teenage girls in Indiana will likely be delayed, now that his defense lawyers have withdrawn from the case.
Prosecutors say Richard Allen killed 14-year-old Libby German and 13-year-old Abby Williams, whose bodies were found near a hiking trail in Delphi. The girls had been dropped off a day before.
On Thursday, Special Judge Fran Gull said the withdrawal of Allen's defense team likely will mean a delay in the start of the trial.
The judge was expected to hear arguments on several matters, including a request for a mistrial following an apparent leak of evidence from the defense team to the producers of a crime podcast.
