(WBBM NEWSRADIO) --The head of a leading anti-abortion group says, despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade, contentious battles over reproduction will continue unless the two sides manage to sit down and talk.

Eric Scheidler, Director of the Pro-life Action League said the Dobbs Supreme Court decision that removed privacy protections for abortion did not resolve anything. It just shifted the battles to the states.

"I think we're still in sort of the aftermath period of the Dobbs ruling. The dust is still settling and I don't know that we really have the, you know, 30,000 foot perspective that we need right now," he added.

Scheidler said it's too hard to get advocates that support abortion and those against it to really discuss the issues, but he'd still like to try.

"I see as one of my roles in the pro- life movement, and to try to push towards more consensus and reaching common ground wherever we possibly can even while continuing to advocate for the right to life of every single unborn child."

An official with Planned Parenthood expressed doubts that anti-abortion groups really want to talk or compromise.

This episode of "At Issue" was Part One of a two-part series. This weekend and next, "At Issue" will present both sides in a debate over abortion. Listen live at 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. every Sunday.
