NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --The man who's alleged to have opened fire on police officers at a hotel in Bradley on Wednesday night, killing one and leaving the second in critical condition, was arrested this morning in Indiana.
Suspect Darius Sullivan, 25 was arrested as police, including SWAT teams and US Marshalls, executed a search warrant at a home in North Manchester, Indiana, 125 miles away from Bradley.
They had the home surrounded and Indiana State Police Sergeant Glen Fifield said that Sullivan, from Bourbonnais, came out with his hands up.
"He came out of the house on his own. There were no shots fired," he said.
The woman he was with, also on the arrest warrant, Xandria Harris, of Bradley, was not at the home.
Bradley police sergeant Marlene Rittmanic was killed earlier this week and her partner, officer Tyler Bailey was critically wounded while responding to a complaint about barking dogs in a car outside a hotel.
Police said they were shocked when they went to the room believed to have been occupied by the owner of the car. The suspects then fled.
Police are continuing to search for Harris.
