Baby injured in Cicero shooting that left two women dead, police say

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Cicero police are releasing more details about a domestic-related shooting Tuesday that left two women and the suspected gunman dead and a baby injured.

Twenty-one-year-old Rafael Vega got into an argument with Myeshia Newby, 19, and shot her in the basement of a home in the 1800 block of South 48th Court, Cicero Police Chief Thomas Boyle said. He said Rafael then shot 29-year-old Jessica Hughes, and both women were later pronounced dead at Mt. Sinai Hospital.

A 10-month-old baby, it was later learned, also was injured in the shooting, Boyle said. The child -- Newby's son -- is stable at the hospital, officials said.

Vega is believed to have fatally shot himself at a nearby park.

An investigation continues, but police have said the deaths were domestic-related and isolated.
