CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --After a nearly day-long standoff with police on Chicago’s West Side, the FBI said they learned early Wednesday morning that a bank robbery suspect killed himself.
The FBI says agents were attempting to serve a warrant on a suspected bank robber near Walton and Pine in Austin early Wednesday morning. Chicago police say the man shot at members of the Violent Crimes Task Force before barricading himself inside the home.
After nearly 20 hours of negotiations, police entered the home and say they found the man dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The medical examiner said the man was 35-years-old.
