(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Bears appear to have found their next offensive coordinator.
According to multiple reports, the Bears are negotiating with Shane Waldron to be their new offensive coordinator.
Waldron, 44, held the same position with the Seattle Seahawks for the last three seasons. Under his watch as offensive playcaller , QB Geno Smith won AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2022.
Waldron has an extensive NFL background. Prior to Seattle, he worked under Rams head coach and offensive guru Sean McVay for four seasons in various capacities, the last being passing game coordinator.
Since the dismissal of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy nearly two weeks ago, the Bears had interviewed a flurry of candidates, including prominent names such as Greg Roman, Kliff Kingsbury and Klint Kubiak.
Waldron will come to Chicago tasked with solidifying the team’s much-publicized QB situation, either mentoring incumbent Justin Fields or an incoming rookie QB such as Caleb Williams.
