CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The HBO show "Hard Knocks" has chosen the Chicago Bears for its docuseries on the 2024 training camp. Marc Ganis, president and co-founder of Sports Corp. Limited in Chicago, joined Rob Hart on the WBBM Noon Business Hour to discuss what it means for the team and its other current aspirations.
Over the past few years, “Hard Knocks” has become part of the professional football conversation and has made itself an important piece in the larger NFL marketing machine. This season will mark the first time that the Bears will be featured on the show, which is something that Ganis said comes back to Bears Chairman George McCaskey.
“McCaskey has felt that it would be a distraction to the team,” Ganis said. “He has felt that other teams have always been more open to having it, more interested.”
The NFL, though, ultimately gets to make the decision, and Ganis said league officials had a lot of reasons to spotlight one of the founding franchises of professional football. Listen to the full interview above to hear his thoughts. The full episode is included below.
