(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — As many as 9 million vehicles are expected to travel on Illinois tollways over the long holiday weekend, which would be the most since Thanksgiving weekend of 2017.
Tollway spokesperson Dan Rozek said the clear weather is one factor that will encourage more people to drive.
He adds: “As the pandemic has eased, traffic volumes have risen on our system.”
Rozek urged tollway drivers to give themselves extra time to get where they need to go because of potential backups.
Drivers who have vehicle trouble should call *999 and wait for assistance, he said.
