CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Mayo Clinic said marijuana can stay in a person's system for a month, meaning that it could show up in tests long after the person's gotten high.
A bill being proposed in Springfield would limit employers' ability to fire or refuse to hire employees.
The Chicago Tribune reported they would have to have enough THC in their system to actually be impaired at the time of the test. There are exceptions for federal jobs and emergency workers.
Companies could still require prospects to take a test before being hired.
But unless there's at least five nanograms of THC in their blood, they could not refuse to hire them because of the test results.
