Toddler critically shot on West Side, CPD says

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWRADIO) - A West Side toddler was rushed to the hospital late Thursday afternoon after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

According to the Chicago Police, the incident occurred inside a home near 14th and Avers, in the Lawndale neighborhood.

The 2-year-old boy sustained several gunshot wounds to his lower body and was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

It’s unclear what led up to the shooting, but police said a weapon was recovered a the scene and a person of interest has been placed into custody.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
