8-year-old boy killed inside West Side home after gun accidently fires: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An 8-year-old boy is dead after he was accidentally shot early Tuesday morning in the Lawndale neighborhood.

Chicago Police said the boy was inside a home in the 3100 block  of West Flournoy with another male juvenile when they found a gun.

One shot was fired around 4:25 a.m.,  and the 8-year-old was wounded in the chest. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said no one else was injured and the weapon was recovered at the scene.

At this time, no charges have been filed, and the identity of the child has not been released.
