EVERGREEN PARK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police have charged the boyfriend of a Mariano’s employee found fatally shot Thursday inside the store’s back storage room.

21-year-old Armoni Henry faces first-degree murder charges. He is alleged to have shot and killed his girlfriend, 21-year-old Jailene Flores, inside her work place Thursday morning.

The domestic incident, police said, occurred around 9:15 a.m., at the Mariano’s in Evergreen Park, located on 95th Street, just east of California Avenue.

Evergreen Park police identified Henry from the store’s video surveillance. According to Police Chief Michael Saunders, footage showed, moments before the shooting, Flores trying to walk away from Henry, and then the two went into the storage room.

Police arrived soon thereafter and Flores was pronounced dead at the scene.

Saunders said the department was able to ascertain Henry’s vehicle information from neighboring Oak Lawn police. He had been involved in a prior domestic dispute with the victim while she was working at the Amazon Fresh Store, located at 95th and Pulaski.

Within a few hours, Chicago police’s license plate reader tracked down Henry’s red Ford Focus in the Edgewater neighborhood, in the1000 block of West Hollywood Avenue. He pulled over in the1300 block of West Thorndale Avenue, but he hit the front bumper of an unmarked police car, according to a Chicago police report. Henry was arrested and police found a loaded 9mm gun in his right pants pocket, the report said.

Henry had been arrested last year in Evergreen Park when he was found with a loaded gun in his car but had no firearm owner's identification card, according to court records. He was charged with unlawful possession of a gun and resisting arrest after he refused to be handcuffed by officers.

The charges were dropped months later.

Henry is due in bond court this afternoon.
