(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The St. Charles craft brewing community is pouring pints for a good cause.

The STC Six includes 93 Octane Brewery, Alter Brewing + Kitchen, Broken Brix Fermentation Emporium, D&G Brewing, Pollyanna Brewing & Distilling and Riverlands Brewing.

This is the second year the group is joining forces to launch a brand-new Summer Pale Ale.

“We give it some really great hop characteristics,” said Ken Henricks, president of Alter Brewing. “Lemondrop and Centennial are the main hops used, and we'll also yield some citrus notes, a little pine and some floral notes, so it’s just a really great refreshing summer beer.”

The collaboration isn’t just about great taste, it’s about a great cause.

A dollar from every sale will go to the Kane County-based nonprofit, Lazarus House.

“Lazarus House does a phenomenal job of providing safe shelter, transitional shelter, food and a range of other support services that can help folks get out of crisis,” said Henricks.

Last year, the STC Six raised roughly $4,000 for Tri City Health Partnership.

The group hopes to exceed that amount this summer.

Henricks tells WBBM Newsradio giving back is in their DNA.

“The craft beer community as a whole is so supportive of one another and so community focused,” he said. “It just made all the sense in the world for the six of us to come together, collaborate and have some of the proceeds go to charity.”

The Summer Pale Ale will make its debut during a launch party this Wednesday at D&G Brewing.

Each of the six breweries will also have limited-edition STC Six glassware available for purchase.
