(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Kinda is ready for her close-up.

Brookfield Zoo’s three-week-old giraffe will make her public debut Friday, after spending time bonding behind the scenes with her mother since her Aug. 19 birth.

Kinda, a rare name with Swahili and Arabic origins, means “beautiful.”

For the immediate future, the mother and baby giraffe can be seen daily between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Hours will be extended in the coming weeks, officials said.

It may take Kinda up to a year to be fully weaned.
