CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — One Chicago neighborhood group is doing something to try to make up some of the revenue lost this year when street festivals were cancelled.
The Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce usually counts on the neighborhood Art Walk and other events to raise money to invest back into the businesses of the community.
But not this year.
So, Jessica Licklider, the chamber’s project manager, came up with an idea of selling jigsaw puzzles.
“The puzzles were sort of a product of some of us doing some sort of a group brainstorm essentially on how we could fundraise, since most of the events of 2020 have obviously been cancelled,” she said.
Each puzzle is Ravenswood-oriented done by a local artist and sells for $39.99.
“We will never be able to replace what we made in festival season, but this is a little bit to help us out.”
Many designs have sold out. There are still some of painter Emily Rapport’s portrait of “Shelly’s Freeze” and “Malt Row” jigsaw puzzles left.
