(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A caregiver has been charged with stealing more than $100,000 from an elderly client in Naperville.

Zoran Tasevski was hired, Naperville police say, to help an elderly person with household chores and paying bills. Instead, the 43-year-old from Chesterton, Indiana allegedly applied for credit cards in the victim’s name, stole money from their accounts and did not keep up with payments.

Police say that led to the gas to be shut off in the home Tasevski lived in with his client, who ended up in the hospital for pneumonia and dehydration.

Naperville police say a relative told them about the fraud back in October 2021.

Working with federal officials and authorities in Indiana, police arrested Tasevski and charged him with theft and identity theft.

No further information was immediately available.
