CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The morning after Donald Trump won re-election in a race that was not as close as we were expecting, Chicagoans reacted.
Many of the commuters outside Union Station were not expecting these results.
“A lot of red really turned out, I didn’t know there were that many votes out in those rural areas,” one Streamwood man told WBBM.
He revealed he voted for Harris and wants to know what Trump’s plans are for lowering prices and healthcare if the GOP majority will again try to dismantle Obamacare.
Meanwhile, commodities broker Mark Rodriguez is excited for the stock market under a Trump presidency.
“He’s done after four years, so he’s not worrying about trying to get re-elected, hopefully he makes good on what he said he’s going to do,” Rodriquez said.
Tom, a lifelong Democrat from Park Ridge, said the next president cannot bring hate into the Oval Office.
“If he’s really honest to make America great again, you got to unite everybody,” Tom said.
One man from East Garfield Park was not feeling good when WBBM caught up to him.
“I just don’t think Donald Trump is a good representation for America,” he said.
One woman WBBM spoke to said she’s happy because she wants change and felt Vice President Harris did not offer a clear vision.
“I just felt like it wasn’t sincere, the way she answered stuff, she didn’t have an answer for the current economy, all the problems that we’ve been having,” she said.
Joe from Itasca said he’s concerned about some of the threats Donald Trump has made but was trying to be measured and reserve judgment.
“We’ve had problems like this before, and I’m sure people were upset when other presidents that they weren’t supporting were elected…Hopefully, everything will work out,” Joe said.
