CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A hundred local vendors gathered In the heart of Ravenswood at the Chicago Artisan Market this past weekend.

This curated market celebrated independent, small Chicago businesses who channel their passions into creating one-of-a-kind products.

"They're all Chicago based or Midwest based and…they're all just trying to make it," said Jonathan Smith.

Smith and his wife, Lynna, founded the Chicago Artisan Market nearly a decade ago.  Smith said the market showcases the best of Chicago and the Midwest in food, fashion, home goods and art.

"As we like to say, 'keep your friends close and your supply chains closer,'" said Smith.

Smith said many vendors have been with the market since its inception, including Old Arthur's Barbecue Sauce. The local sauce maker was founded in 1837 and  has been passed down through five generations.

"We've been with the Chicago Artisan Market now going on six years. We're proud to be a part of it," said Eudell Watts IV, Owner & CEO of Old Arthur's Barbecue Sauce.
