(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Botanic Garden is opening its "Lightscape" attraction for the season starting Friday.
It’s the fifth year for the popular after-dark event, but Jodi Zombolo, associate vice president of visitor events and programs, said they change about 80 percent of the displays each year.
“It is never the same. So, don’t think if you were here last year or the year before that if you come this year you’re going to see the same thing,” she said.
That includes the location of the Winter Cathedral, a 110-foot-long tunnel illuminated with strands of white lights that is a perennial favorite for photos and engagement proposals.

New this year along the 1.3-mile trail is a trip out to Evening Island, where neon lasers cut through the dark while 5-foot lilies float in the water.
The presentation has drawn more than 200,000 people in prior years.
This year’s version runs through Jan. 7, and tickets are still available. For more information, click here.
