Chicago Jazz Fest returns: What to know

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The annual Chicago Jazz Festival returns this week. Here's everything you need to know in advance from parking information to performers to everything in between.

When is the festival?
The festival starts August 31 and runs through September 3.

Where is the festival?
Most of the performances will be held at Millennium Park, but some will be held at the Chicago Cultural Center located at 78 East Washington Street. The event entrances for Millennium Park will be Randolph Street and Monroe Street.

What is the admission cost?
Admission is free.

Who will be performing?
Three-time Grammy-winning jazz musician Ron Carter and Foursight, Jazz singer Dianne Reeves, drummer and composer Makaya McCraven, and Cuban band Juan de Marcos and the Afro-Cuban All Stars are among the highlighted performers for this year. How can I get there?
Public transportation is recommended. Attendees can take the CTA Red Line or Blue Line to Millennium Park. If riding the Red Line, riders can exit at Lake and if riding the Blue Line, riders can exit at Washington and walk east towards the park. Buses 3, 4, 6, J14, 20, 56, 60, 124, 146, 147, 151, 157 can also be taken to the park.

If taking the Metra to get to the festival, the Millennium Park Station is located at Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street. Riders can take the Metra Electric District or the South Shore Line trains to reach the park.

If driving, parking is available at nearby parking garages, which are:
-Grant Park North Garage located at 25 N. Michigan Ave.
-Grant Park South Garage located at 325 S. Michigan Ave.
-Millennium Park Garage & Millennium Lakeside Garage located at 5 S. Columbus Dr.

Those using the parking garages can pay in person at each garage location or pre-pay online for discounted parking.

The vehicle drop off point for the park is 201 E. Randolph Street.

Is the festival accessible for visitors with special needs?
Several accommodations will be available for attendees with special needs.

-If entering the park through a park only entrance (C or D) and need an accessible route into the event space, see the guard where the C entrance path and the B entrance path meet (Washington and Randolph).
-Assistive Listening Devices are available at all Millennium Park events from the Patron Service Tent.
-Wheelchair loan is available at all Millennium Park events from the Patron Service Tent.
-Accessible seating (with companion seats) is available throughout the seating bowl.
-Films are open captioned (including preshow).
-Large print programs are available at Welcome Center & Patron Services Tent.
