CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A person of interest has been arrested in connection to Tuesday’s double homicide at Navy Pier, Chicago police said.

The arrest came after Area Three detectives released surveillance images of the suspect who they believe shot and killed 51-year-old Lamont Johnson and 47-year-old Peter Jennings on 600 E. Grand Avenue.

Police said the shooting happened in the loading dock area shortly after 1:15 p.m. Both Johnson and Jennings were taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital but later died.

The attack prompted a several hours long shelter-in-place order.

The suspect, police said, is believed to have been a former employee who worked at Navy Pier.

This is a developing story and will be updated as we learn more.
