CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - If you’re 50 years old or older, should you get a second Covid booster shot now? Dr. Allison Arwady, Chicago’s commissioner of public health, answered that question during Thursday’s media briefing.
“I would say there’s not a downside to getting a booster right now,” Arwady said.
The Chicago health commissioner said people 65 and over should get the second booster now.
And she was asked whether someone 50 to 65, with no underlying health conditions, should get a second booster now or wait until the fall, when another dose, more targeted to a variant, may come out.
“There’s no concern that getting another dose in any way makes your immune system less responsive to a future vaccine,” said Arwady
Dr. Arwady says if you’re 50 to 65 with no underlying medical concerns, “there’s not a major need to get” another booster right now.
