CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) —The owner of a restaurant on Chicago's West Side that gives free meals to the hungry is now helping carjacking victims.

Jermaine Jordan, who says he has been carjacked three times, learned that some of the people getting help at his Free Healthy Hot Meals restaurant on Madison were carjacking victims and couldn't afford to replace their stolen vehicles.

“I know what it feels like that you’ve been near death and somebody pulling a gun on you,” he said.

When five people who'd been carjacked came to the restaurant to get free food, Jordan surprised them with free vehicles he donated from his used car dealership.

Jordan on Thursday said he could help many more people if he had more resources. People can help by making donations on the GoFundMe page he has launched, he said.
