CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The city of Chicago plans to celebrate the Sky’s WNBA championship with a parade and rally at 11 a.m. Tuesday that kicks off from Wintrust Arena in the South Loop.
The team will head up Michigan Avenue to Millennium Park where a rally is slated to start at noon in the Pritzker Pavilion.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot said the city is thrilled to throw a celebration worthy of this historic moment in Chicago sports.
Fans must go through security screening before the free event and COVID-19 vaccination is not required but encouraged as is taking public transit since there will be rolling street closures.
The Chicago Sky won their first WNBA championship Sunday afternoon when they defeated the Phoenix Mercury.
