(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago residents looking to get a jump on New Year’s resolutions to exercise more can check out Chicago Park District fitness centers for free starting Friday.
Sixty-nine locations across the city are participating in Free Fitness Center Week.
Senior program specialist Brandon Lyles says the district would like residents to sign up in advance, but it’s not required.
The fitness centers were closed during the height of COVID and are now encouraging --but not requiring -- masks.
Lyles says treadmills, bikes, weights and more are available to residents 18 years and older.
The free period runs Dec. 30 through Jan. 8.
