CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Another seven busloads of migrants arrived in Chicago Tuesday and more are expected this week.

About 60 buses carrying migrants have arrived in the city this month.
Nearly 300 have come over the past year.

Annie Gomberg, a volunteer assisting people at one of the police stations housing migrants, spoke to CBS-2.

"I think this is the most critical mass we've had, and I don't see any way that we really get through this without some sort of release of the pressure valve of all of these people living in a really untenable situation," Gomberg told CBS-2.

More than 15,000 migrants have been bused here in the past year. WGN-TV reported the 9th Police District has 199 migrants staying. The 12th District has 144, and the 1st District, 112.

The stay in police districts is supposed to be temporary as migrants await spots in local shelters, but some have been there for months, "sleeping on mattresses, blankets, and even tents outside of the lobbies," WGN reported.

The TV station also discovered that the city 'quietly' signed a $29 million contract with GardaWorld to erect, staff, and operate tent cities to accommodate migrants.
