CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago Public Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady urged anyone who fits the profile to get the monkeypox vaccine in the next few days as the city shifts to COVID vaccines.

After Labor Day, Arwady said the vaccination sites at Chicago City Colleges will stock more COVID vaccines and fewer monkeypox vaccines.

Monkeypox cases were on the decline in August, Arwady said.

She still recommended that men who are intimate with men get vaccinated this weekend.

“This is really likely to be the last weekend for a little while that we’ll have significant numbers of vaccines available at City Colleges for MPV, and that’s because the updated COVID vaccine will be coming,” Arwady said.

Chicago has had about 850 cases of monkeypox since June.

Arwady said the monkeypox vaccine will be available at Truman College and Malcolm X College on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
