Major renovations are coming to a Logan Square landmark.

Chicago city officials negotiated a $20 million subsidy for the redevelopment of the Congress theater. The 96-year-old building has been closed since 2013. The entire renovation project is estimated to cost more than $70 million.

The Sun Times reports the developer wants to refurbish the venue for live performances and include 20 residential units, the majority of which would be marketed as affordable under city ordinance.
