CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- As the Chicago City Council confirms a new Budget Director today, the City's pension problems still loom as the among the thorniest issues.

Mayor Brandon Johnson late last week announced the formation of a task force to advise him about tackling the city's pension debt, among other things.

However, he didn't say who's on that panel nor any other details really. Some Aldermen are complaining about that.

Meanwhile Northwest Side Alderman Gilbert Villegas said he wants to sit down with officials from the city's four employee pension funds to suggest they invest in local development projects.

"Would get projects finally going- would allow for jobs to be created...again, tax revenue being created," he explained. "Those are things that we want to continue to see going on. We need that positive activity to occur."

Villegas said he got the idea after developer Sterling Bay asked the Chicago Teachers Union to invest in its Lincoln Yards project.
