CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A civilian oversight panel wants more details about where Chicago police officers are deployed in the department’s spending plan.
The department’s nearly $2 billion dollar budget proposed for next year makes great strides in freeing up sworn officers to fight and solve crime, but does not address how to lower response times.
The Daily Line reports that Anthony Driver, head of the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability told aldermen "your zip code should not determine your worthiness when you call for help".
The CCPSA also recommends buying more helicopters-noting the current budget for three is far below the LAPD’s 17 and the resource is crucial in fighting the explosion in car thefts.
Aldermen are slated to vote on the budget proposal tomorrow.
