Cocktail of the Week: 3-ingredient, patriotic mimosa

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Happy Labor Day Weekend, Chicago!

Labor Day is celebrated to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States. It became a federal holiday in 1894.

Labor Day weekend also symbolizes the end of summer for many Americans, and is celebrated with parties, street parades, special events, and more.

This year it is going to be a beautiful long weekend, so be sure to enjoy your Labor Day Weekend to the max! If you are looking for the perfect drink to make the holiday weekend extra special and celebrate the (unofficial) end of summer, why not try making this simple, three-ingredient patriotic mimosa?

Ingredients:

• 1 oz. Blue Curacao
• Champagne or Prosecco (whatever is your favorite bubbly)
• Lemonade
• Strawberries or cherries for garnish (optional)

Directions:

1. Add 1 oz. of Blue Curacao to the bottom of your glass (preferably a champagne flute)
2. Fill your champagne glass until it’s ¾ full.
3. Top off with a splash of lemonade. Note: Be sure to leave some room at the top to add in your garnish.
4. Drop in a couple of pieces of strawberry or a maraschino cherry or two.
5. Enjoy!
