(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Due to the demise of NBC Sports Chicago, Comcast cable TV customers in the Chicago area are going to be getting credits on their bills for the time being.

There’s a more than $19 per month fee for regional sports programming on Comcast, but because NBC Sports Chicago is no more — and with talks ongoing to bring the new Chicago Sports Network onto the cable system — customers are going to be credited just under $9 per month.

Chicago Sports Network carries the Bulls,Blackhawks and White Sox.

It can also be received for free by attaching an over-the-air antenna to your TV.

A Comcast spokesperson told WBBM that customers are receiving emails and bill messages communicating that no action is needed to get the monthly credit.
