CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — It’s now easier for college-bound students to apply to multiple schools in Illinois. The state has added all public universities to the Common App.

The state announced the additions thanks to $1 million in government funding.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker said in a statement the move will make it easier for Illinois residents to apply as well as students from out of state and the country to take the next step in their educational journey right here.

University of Illinois at Chicago, Northern Illinois University and Chicago State University were already on the Common App. But now all 12 of the state's public universities are on the platform that allows students to apply using one form.

Northeastern Illinois University will come online later this fall.
