(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A celebration concert is planned for beloved Chicago disc jockey Lin Brehmer, nearly eight months after his death from prostate cancer.
“There is so much to celebrate with Lin because Lin celebrated life every single moment of every day,” says Marty Lennartz, a colleague of Brehmer’s at alternative music station WXRT.
Helping organize a concert at Metro on Aug. 19, what would have been Brehmer's 69th birthday was a no-brainer, Lennartz said.
“A Celebration of Lin Brehmer” will feature Bob Mould, Los Lobos and The LinBurgers and will feature Jon Langford and Kelly Hogan, with special guest Michael McDermott.
Co-hosted by Lennartz and Terri Hemmert, proceeds from the event will benefit the charities Intonation and Nourishing Hope.
Tickets go on sale Friday.
