(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Tech experts are warning about artificial intelligence and the upcoming presidential election.
The terms and conditions of the four largest public-facing artificial intelligence programs prohibit users from making deceptive images.
Chat GPT doesn't allow users to make images featuring politicians, but misleading images featuring president Biden and former president Trump are making the rounds on social media anyway.
Tech reporter Ina Fried tells the Noon Business Hour that we have to spot red flags, but she adds the tech companies have a role to play as well.
"The creators of this powerful tools need to do everything they can to label AI-generated images to ensure their technology isn't being misused."
Tech experts say AI images can be used to mislead voters or spread doubt about the integrity of the election itself.
"And the images are one thing, but I also think text- just sewing discord through just false stuff," Fried added.
