Coyote on the mend after being clipped by train, wildlife clinic says

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A coyote struck by a commuter train last week in Evanston continues to show signs of recovery, a suburban wildlife clinic reports on social media.

The animal was struck early Jan. 4, and train crew members initially thought the coyote had been killed, Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation said on Facebook. But they discovered the animal was still alive and called Evanston’s animal control department, the clinic said.

The coyote, which sustained head trauma, was transferred to the Barrington non-profit, thanks to the efforts of a volunteer, Flint Creek said.

Updates on social media suggested it was touch and go for the coyote, but on Sunday, the clinic noted significant progress: “The coyote ate on his own last night! He’s starting to look so much better. I think we are past the worst of it.”
