CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago Police have issued a community alert about a pattern of armed street robberies on the Near North Side.
There were four incidents listed in the alert, each in the area of State and Division. Each occurred on weekend mornings.
The alert said, in each incident, multiple suspects approached the victims on the street and engaged them in conversation. The offenders then took the victim's cell phones and/or wallets by force or deception.
After obtaining the victim's cell phones, the alert said, the suspects used the victim's banking apps to transfer money to personal accounts.
