CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A special exhibition this week at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is giving high school students from across the city a unique opportunity to showcase their artwork.
Works from nearly 170 Chicago high school seniors are on display at the All-City Senior Portfolio Exhibition at the Sharp Gallery on Wabash near Monroe.
Krista Wortendyke, the manager of arts education programs at the Chicago Public Schools, said the exhibition allows the students to share their creations with a much wider audience.
“It also gives them an opportunity for people to see their work in-person, not just on a screen or in a classroom. And, where the gallery is situated downtown, there’s really big picture windows right off of Wabash Avenue, so it’s very, very public and gives them (a) really public platform for people to see their work,” Wortendyke said.
Wortendyke said the exhibition also introduces the students to admissions representatives of various colleges and universities.
The student art will be on display at the Sharp Gallery through Saturday.
