CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will soon share its vision for a new community space under portions of the Red Line in Uptown and Edgewater.

The CTA will hold public meetings later this month to unveil preliminary concepts for the so-called “under L” area on the North Side. It's part of the multi-billion-dollar Red and Purple Modernization Project.

After removing a century-old embankment wall, the CTA partnered with a local design group to draft community space designs for 10 blocks between Lawrence and Ardmore Avenues.

Concepts for blocks between Foster and Ardmore Avenues will be presented on May 22, and ideas for blocks between Lawrence and Foster Avenues will be shared Thursday, May 23.

The May meetings follow an earlier set of public meetings, in which community residents provided the agency with their feedback on what they’d to see from these community spaces.
