Friends hold day of service honoring Tiffany Mordi, one year after her death: 'Today is Tiffany Day'

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Friends, family and volunteers came together Saturday morning to honor the life of Tiffany Mordi.

“Today is Tiffany Day,” said Sherri Hamilton. “We are here to give back to the community and to celebrate her legacy.”

Moments before her 26th birthday on the evening of March 18th, 2022, Mordi was fatally shot. Her community of family and friends have come together to turn their grief into something good.

“Tiffany was my childhood best friend,” said Mariette Bahati, who organized the event. “I knew that today I wanted to do something to honor her and give back to her.”

In honor of Mordi, Bahati decided to create “Tiffany Day” as a community outreach event aimed to help young mothers.

Bahati said the event is centered around different causes that were important to Mordi. On the Tiffany Day GoFundMe page, Bahati wrote that they’ve collected items for newborn babies, mothers in need, and new immigrants who are resettling in a new place.

The day of service was organized to honor Mordi’s memory and legacy.
