POSEN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Posen Park District Board has decided that an annual carnival marred by violence involving a large group of young people over the weekend will not be returning to the village next year.
This follows a large fight that occurred at the carnival on Sunday evening, prompting police to call for assistance from neighboring departments.
There were four arrests.
Posen Police Chief William Alexander said “it just seemed like everyone went crazy.”
“The carnival seems to attract people from all around Chicago and other towns, and it just causes chaos,” Alexander told the Daily Southtown.
The Director of Parks and Recreation, Terrence Whitcomb, said, they’re “trying to hold a family event and some unruly people come out and have to ruin things like this for everybody. We’re very sad about that.”
There have been other incidents like this at carnivals in the north suburbs in recent weeks.
