EVANSTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A dead body was found on the grounds of a north suburban high school Tuesday morning.
A faculty member at Evanston Township High School encountered the body of an adult female near an outdoor field on the north side of the campus, according to police and school officials.
In an online message to parents, Evanston Township High School District 202 Superintendent Marcus Campbell said the adult was not of high school age and the police are still investigating.
“ETHS students and staff were not in danger at any time. Everyone at ETHS is safe and there is no threat during the EPD investigation on campus,” Campbell said. “ETHS classes are being held as planned.
“We recognize that anytime there is a police investigation on the ETHS campus, it may cause a strong reaction. We are here to support our students and staff. Students may also reach out to their social worker if they express distress or desire support,” Campbell added.
Evanston police said they concluded from their initial investigation that the dead woman was not a faculty member at the school.
