(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The death of a University of Illinois student in January appears to have been an accident, university police said.
Authorities said they have found no signs of foul play in their investigation of the Jan. 20 death of Akul Dhawan.
The 18-year-old's body was found almost 10 hours after a friend called police to say he didn't know where Dhawan was and was worried about him.
Police said Dhawan was drinking with friends at Busey-Evans Residence Hall and was not allowed into a club by staff multiple times.
A complaint has been filed over the response to the call from university police, which officials said they will review.
The investigation is ongoing.
